History of Our Club

.
History of Our Club

The initiative of forming a youth club was developed by Mr. Amos Agyeman Dua.He took the challenge to consult century individuals of high reputation in the community for advice and his efforts proved futile. His vision to bring together the youth in the community resulted in the response of about 6 persons joining the club.

On the 3rd August,2002,the first meeting was held in the house of the founder where the attendance was 5.The spirit of evangelism was injected into the few members which by their efforts and ambitions, rewarded the club with great number of new members joining the club. Before the formation of the club, there were other existing youth clubs in the community which made it competitive to operate as a new club.

On the 10th of August, 2002, which was the second club meeting; an interim body of executives was formed to run the club. The various positions included President,Vice-President,General Secretary,Organiser,Financial Secretary,Treasurer,Publicity Officer and Porter. The Interim body took upon themselves to change the venue of meeting, their effort was rewarded after a consultation with the headmaster of the Christ Mission School (Kwashieman) Accra, which is the current place of meeting of the club. He granted the request to use the school premises for which he allocated one of the best classroom for our meeting.

As part of the measures to increase the membership of the club, an end of year Get Together was held at Been-To, a popular entertainment venue where about 18 sister clubs were invited. Though the club was very young and weak in finance, the dedicated members sacrificed their last quotas just to make the event a memorable one. For now the club can boast of about 75 members and its still increasing.

Currently, the club is runned by a permanent board of executives who took office on the 26th of April, 2003.Registeration of new members is still in progress,PYWC always welcome new members.
